Haag am Hausruck commune is no longer divided into localities.

On 1 January 2022, the communes Mühlbachl and Pfons in Tyrol were merged into Matrei am Brenner.

Neulengbach locality fused with several other localites and Tausendblum locality was established (both in Neulengbach city). Lehen locality in St. Roman commune was split from Wienetsdorf. Fucking locality (in Tarsdorf) was renamed as Fugging. Bruck an der Großglocknerstraße locality merged with 10 other localities. Four communes are no longer divided into localities.

In Frohnleiten commune, Vordere Gams (180 inhabitants) was split from Gams locality and Kühau (37 inhabitants) was separated from Rothleiten locality. Eberschwang locality incorporated six other localities. 15 communes are no longer divided into localities.
2020-08-13
Murfeld commune (in Styria) was dissolved at the end of 2019. Seibersdorf locality was incorporated into St. Veit am Vogau. The other localities merged with Straß in Steiermark. The entire former area of Murfeld no longer belongs to Südoststeiermark but to the Leibnitz district.

On 1 January 2019, Austria has 14,429 localities with 20 or more inhabitants (without Graz, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt and Vienna). Eugendorf doubled its population by absorbing seven other localities. Hubertendorf with 279 inhabitants (formerly part of Blindenmarkt locality) is the largest new locality.
